Project: Alberta Rural Development Fund – One Hour Documentary
Client: The Banff Centre
Role: Camera Operator

As a camera operator and studio technician work-study at The Banff Centre from 2010 to 2011, I was fortunate to be involved in this fascinating documentary for The Rural Alberta Development Fund and The Nexen Chair in Aboriginal Leadership. In fact, my very first day involved teaching the youth cohort about filmmaking techniques and camera operation – a very fun start to a fascinating two-year  journey to document four successful aboriginal projects. We spent time with four communities in rural alberta – these were Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park, Metis Crossing, Alberta Indian Investment Corporation, and the Mikisew Group of Companies. From interviews with business investment specialists to b-roll footage at cultural events such as a pow wow and drumming circle competitions, this project took us far and wide across Alberta. Kudos to Morgan Brown for pulling the entire project together!
