Craig Hall is an award-winning filmmaker with over fifteen years experience in documentary, commercial, and broadcast television. He currently works as a Director of Photography and Camera Operator in Western Canada and brings creative and technical expertise to non-fiction and narrative projects.
After several years working in the production office, Craig was drawn to the art of cinematography and studied camera operation and studio lighting at The Banff Centre for the Arts & Creativity in Alberta, Canada. A unique opportunity to learn digital cinematography, studio lighting, and camera movement, Craig collaborated with artists across North America, Europe and Australia to create award-winning music videos and documentaries.
Today, Craig works closely with DP’s, directors, creative directors, and producers to meticulously plan and implement studio and field shoots across Western Canada. He brings strong handheld camera skills, expertise with specialized camera equipment such as remote heads and motion control, and a hands-on approach to sculpting light for expressionistic or naturalistic looks.
Craig regularly works with out of town clients from Los Angeles, New York, and London and has shot for clients such as A&E Networks, History Channel, Red Bull Media House, and Microsoft. He regularly shoots on profesional camera platforms including Arri Amira, Alexa Mini, Red Monstro, Canon C300, and various Sony cameras and can access a wide range of cinema zooms and primes.
